Luke Caparelli: No Longer a Deacon

Although some rumors had been swirling, it is now official that running back Luke Caparelli (a freshman who has been redshirting) has been dismissed from the team and left Wake Forest.

On his facebook profile Caparelli apparently left messages saying he would "blow up campus" and that “for those left standing he will have an uzi locked and loaded in his bag.”

When police searched his dorm room no weapons were found, and Caparelli has stated that he had no intention of actually doing anything. Nonetheless, schools have tightened up on these issues in the wake of last year's Virginia Tech tragedy.

I feel sorry for Caparelli, but unfortunately is does not seem that the school had any other choice. He did something very dumb, and even if he didn't mean anything by it he still must be accountable for his actions. Hopefully other students and players will learn from this and not make such poor decisions in the future.
